Thinking today about the abuse of children 5: This is going to put me in a spiral.

Thinking today about the abuse of children.
Obviously, Sandusky is the (oh no) poster child for this issue this week. Nothing will happen this side of Hades that will make a megalomaniacal pederast like old Jerry as helpless and scared as any of the kids who’s childhood he killed were. Let Karma or Satan deal with him. Let him die and be buried in a pissoir at Penn State to be washed into eternity by cheap & bitter urine..

This whole Sandusky adoption and his “Second Mile” charity scam put me in mind of a family I worked for, for a bit, in the 70s. They were rapidly spending their way past shabby gentility and approaching plebianism- when suddenly they were overcome with a social need to let retarded ( remember when this was) kids ride horseback. And I was a dumb HS kid with nominal carpentry skills and big ears. So now all of a sudden this whole horse thing was a not for profit, they could put the arm on friends for donations, rather than loans and even write-off their booze. But I digress…. Basically Sandusky had an /army of good-hearted people pimping kids to him out in the open. [7/1] And now it would appear that the famous Joe Pa had an integral part in keeping the abuse going.

Today’s paper brings news of a teacher at famed Horace Mann School admitting to having (Buddhist?) sex with students. I missed reading the big article on the subject, in the NYT, as I was traveling that weekend. In Lin’s case I can conceive of a consensual argument. In my HS, back in the dawn of time, there were several affairs between students and teachers which even now don’t seem abusive. Of course this was when we had a smoking lounge, pot was ok and love was going to stop wars. [7/1] “people had very different understandings of what sexual abuse was in the ’60s and ’70s and what a pedophile was.”… “….in 1975, you expressed your autonomy by sleeping with your husband’s tennis partner.” – Oh I love this line.

And some kind of comic strip B movie monster continues killing Mexican girls. But not to worry, it is south of the border & they aren’t white girls on expensive vacation.

Actually if I had the time or energy I’d knock out 1,500 words on Sandusky abusing children being just a tune up for his day job abusing and using young men as the NCAA does making millions off of players and offering them whore’s smiles…..

And now it would appear the whole program got behind the coveup.

And let’s not forget Msgr Lynn recycling abusive priests.

Gabriel Orgrease In or out of the Catholic church it is disturbing. That it becomes institutionally enabled is what I find the most curious. I mean, some lone guy builds a secret warren in his basement and keeps a woman there for twenty years is one sort of oddness, but it is not like they have a social network that aids to support and sustain their habits.”

But I am also thinking about the beating the union movement took this week and Utah Phillip’s quote- “Kids don’t have a little brother working in the coal mine, they don’t have a little sister coughing her lungs out in the looms of the big mill towns of the Northeast. Why? Because we organized; we broke the back of the sweatshops in this country; we have child labor laws. Those were not benevolent gifts from enlightened management. They were fought for, they were bled for, they were died for by working people, by people like us. Kids ought to know that.”
