Troy Davis executed

When Bill Sessions pleads for leniency in the case of a cop killer- I believe it’s time to listen.

From a moral point of view I’m generally opposed to the Death Penalty and yet can see moments when it is proper  While I can understand Blood Atonement I am horrified at the idea of an innocent executed.  From a pragmatic angle I’m of the opinion that it simply takes too much time money and effort to execute someone.

The club of prisoner-executing nations is an inauspicious one. You’ve got the world’s great dictatorships and autocracies (Iran, Zimbabwe, China, North Korea, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Egypt, Ethiopia, Cuba, Belarus), it’s most failed and failing states (Somalia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sudan, Congo, Chad, Yemen, Guinea, Bangladesh), not to mention the entire Middle East save Israel.”

A Friend Points Out:

“Not much anti-death penalty rage against the white racist put to death in Texas yesterday. Where were the candle light vigils for him? Where were all the anti-death penalty super stars standing up against that state imposed death? It’s crap. The majority of the anti-death penalty hype is political…not moral.”

Of course  Russell Brewer, who was executed Wednesday had to ruin Last Meals for everyone by getting carried away- but then self control isn’t a long suit for a guy who would drag someone to death behind a vehicle.

The hell that is being John Boehner

“Yet again, Tea Party purists remind the House Speaker who’s really the boss.” While I have trouble with what I’ve found to be thinly veiled racism within the Tea Party and my concern that they are monetarily controlled by parties that many members don’t know of- I’m intrigued at how they tweak the very people who would treat them as an auxiliary….

Men and Urinals…Time for one of them to change

Honestly I love urinals- hardly surprising give the title of this blog. Vertical coffins of China or Marble in the Met Life building and old Rock Center, the new waterless units cropping up and plastic piss tubes at concerts. I’ve never understood why in high-rise buildings the water from the sink drains on the floor above doesn’t just flow into the urinals on the floors below.  And then there was The Urinal Game– which seems to be tied with that Dancing Baby for my oldest internet memories.
